Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had another exciting week; the children have been stimulated with learning opportunities both in and out of school.
On Monday Year 5 visited Amazon World; this provided the children with additional insight into their topic work linked to Rain Forests. Their persuasive letter writing linked to endangered species has been very powerful – Government Ministers and World Leaders have been lobbied by the children. The sense of global citizenship and respect for the environment has been reflected strongly in their literacy work. Well done Year 5.
Today we have said ‘Goodbye’ to Miss Alexander – she has worked with the school for the past two years as a Learning Support Assistant and as support at lunchtime. Her hard work and support has been valued by both children and staff and we would like to wish her the very best for the future.
As we are approaching the end of this term, there will be an opportunity for parents to come along to a Coffee and Chat session. This will be an open forum for parents to come along and discuss the things we have been doing as a school and to share ideas. There will be two sessions for each Key Stage. For Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 they will be at 8.30am or 6.00pm on Tuesday 28th March 2017 and for Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 they will be at 8.30am or 6.00pm on Thursday 30th March 2017. I do hope that as many of you as possible will be able to join us.
On Sunday 26th March it is Mothering Sunday, I would like to say thank you to those parents who have already responded to the invitation for the children to join us at church. We would like to invite any of the children that would like to take part in the service to join in by helping with singing, prayers and readings. The service is at 11.00am at St Mary’s Brighstone. Please do contact us through the Teachers 2 Parents text service if you would like more information – the text messages will be monitored across the weekend.
It was great to see so much red in school today in support of Red Nose Day; we have raised a tremendous £151.29
I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend.
Best wishes, Mrs Fox
