Dear Parents and Carers,
Brighstone really is – a small school where BIG things happen!
Our welcome back to school this week, was launched into orbit on the first day of term with a visit from the Island Planetarium. Every class had the opportunity to explore the Solar System, locate and identify their own planet. I enjoyed joining in the session with our youngest children (Mars Class) on their first day at Brighstone. The whole school came together today to share their learning from the last three days and it was fantastic to see how much has been achieved by the children in less than a week.
There have been a number of exciting changes in school during the Summer Holidays: we have new flooring in the school hall, we have new fencing to the front of the school – this will enable us to develop a sensory garden area. We would also like to thank Island Roads for the line painting of games and activities on our playground, including a netball court; this was done without cost as part of their volunteering scheme – thank you to the BSA who helped to organise this.
I would like to politely remind parents that dogs must not be brought on to the school playground. I realise that many people are fond of them but there are some children who are scared of them and we do have some children who are allergic to them. Thank you for your support and cooperation with this.
From the 10th September resurfacing works will be taking place along parts of New Road, there is an additional letter going out to all families detailing the arrangements and how this will affect drop off, pick up and school transport.
On Monday the children will be bringing home their class newsletter and topic webs for this half-term. Parents are invited to join us for a meet and greet information evening on Tuesday 11th September from 5.00pm – 6.00pm. If you have any questions about your child’s learning, please do not hesitate to speak to the class teacher or myself.
