Dear Parents and Carers,
Celebration, characters and creativity. The events of our week have been wide ranging: from exploring history through a visit to a reconstruction of an ancient farm to following a trail of breadcrumbs on a hunt for a gingerbread house.
In our Golden Book today we had two whole class nominations, both year 3 and 4 showed exemplary behaviour on their visit to Butser Ancient Farm. The children engaged with a range of activities including: wattling, spinning and archaeology with enthusiasm and curiosity. This has given them focus and insight into the learning that they have experienced in school this week. We are really proud of them.
Yesterday we had lots of fun and excitement as we celebrated Word Book Day, our theme was based on Traditional Tales. The children worked in their
houses on a range of cross-curricular activities that used stories as a springboard for enquiry, history, design and music. All of the staff were really impressed by how well the children worked together and supported each other with their learning. There were an amazing range of costumes and book characters that added to the positive atmosphere – thank you to everyone for making so much effort.
Over the past week we have also completed assessments with the children and we have our Parent Consultation Evenings coming up on Monday 1st April and Tuesday 2nd April 2019. Some teachers will be offering both dates, depending on the size of their class, while others will be offering one evening. Booking sheets will be available in the school office with the dates and times for specific classes from Wednesday 20th March 2019. We would like to reassure parents that if they are unable to make an appointment at the times on offer, their child’s class teacher will be prepared to meet with them at an alternative time. We would like to encourage all parents to take the opportunity to meet with the class teacher as this is a valuable way of being updated on progress and
attainment for the term. In the meantime, if there is anything that you would like to discuss about your child’s education, please do not hesitate to speak to the class teacher or me.
Best Wishes,
Mrs Fox
