Dear Parents and Carers,
‘It is in giving that we receive’ St Francis of Assisi. This half-term we are focusing on Generosity as our theme for collective worship. We have been thinking about how we can be generous with our love and kindness towards one another and that we do not need to be rich in order to do things that can help others.
We would like to thank the BSA for organising the ‘Round the Island Relay Race’ and to all of the runners for being generous with their time helping to raise funds for the school. We look forward to sharing the final total that has been raised once all of the money has been collected – it is still not too late to make a donation. Well done to our team, they showed amazing stamina and brought the baton home for Brighstone in first place. Congratulations and well done to the teams from both Brighstone and Nine Acres – the challenge is on for next year!
Our term is now well under way. A lot has happened this week to help build the school into a collaborative, challenging and positive learning environment. Our year 6 children have applied for and been given their roles and responsibilities, these will be celebrated in next week’s Golden Worship. Our sporting competitions started this week with a mixed Year 5 and 6 away football tournament. There are a number of competitions coming up over the next few weeks and we wish all of our teams the very best. Mr Goldsmith is putting together his Sports Crew to help him lead and take responsibility our sporting activities. I know we have an exciting year ahead of us and we can look forward to some reports of the events that will be written and put together by the children.
On Wednesday 2nd October we have our Harvest Festival Celebration, this will be in church at 8.40am. Instead of a Eucharist this month, the service is one of thanksgiving and celebration where each class will take part sharing hymns, poems, readings and prayers. We would like to invite all parents, family and friends to come along and join us for this service. In preparation for our Harvest Festival, we would like to encourage the children to bring gifts of packaged food products. These will then be donated to the Food Bank.
We hope you have an enjoyable weekend. Happy Isle of Wight Day.
Best wishes, Mrs Fox
