Dear Parents and Carers,
Wet and windy weather arrived with the Autumn equinox at the start of this week. Unfortunately, this meant that the walk on to the downs and the forest planned by year 1 and 2 had to be postponed. We are hoping to be able to reschedule this so that the children are able to have the experience in the environment that will help them to make links with their work in geography this half-term.
During the past week our children have been visiting the ‘Dragon Tree’ as a stimulus for ‘Poetree Day’ next Thursday. We are really looking forward to welcoming parents into school to join in with the writing workshops. As part of the outcome of writing for a real purpose and audience, we are hoping to produce an anthology of the poems written.
Our school governors have spent time in school with us this week, experiencing a day in the life of the school. Starting with collective worship, followed by problem solving, they also enjoyed a school lunch with the children and joined in with playtime. The children were very welcoming and eager to share their learning with them. Thank you to the governors for the time that they give to the school and for their ongoing support and challenge.
On Wednesday 2nd October we have our Harvest Festival Celebration, this will be in church at 8.40am. Instead of a Eucharist this month, the service is one of thanksgiving and celebration where each class will take part sharing hymns, poems, readings and prayers. We would like to invite all parents, family and friends to come along and join us for this service. In preparation for our Harvest Festival, we would like to encourage the children to bring gifts of packaged food products. These will then be donated to the Food Bank.
We hope you have a restful weekend.
Best wishes
Mrs Fox
