Dear Parents and Carers,
Our week started with a focus on ‘Earth Day’, plastic pollution is something that has had a lot of recent media focus; as a school we are exploring our role as global citizens and how we can all play a part in recycling or re-using resources. Plastic pollution is having a significant impact on so many aspects of the health and well-being of the planet and we want to encourage our whole school community to engage with ways in which they can make a difference.
Earlier this week our year 2 children went on a trip to Carisbrooke Castle as a stimulus for their topic work. We were really proud and impressed both by their attitude to learning and their behaviour; several members of the public complimented them on their politeness and exemplary conduct. Well done year 2 you are great ambassadors for the school.
I would like to thank all of the parents that have been ensuring that their children are at school on time and in the correct uniform. It is important that the children have a genuine sense of pride in their school and their own appearance. Please can I remind parents that hair ornaments need to be plain, a moderate size and in school colours, your support with this is much appreciated.
We are now in a position to share many of the important dates that you will need for the Summer Term. We are going to hold our Summer Queen Celebration this year to commemorate the Royal Wedding. The event will be on Friday 18th May at 2.00pm. This is a long standing Brighstone tradition and parents are invited to attend.
I hope you all have a restful and enjoyable weekend.
Best wishes
Mrs Fox
