Dear Parents and Carers,
Our headline this week really should be ‘The mystery of the missing Tarmac’! As many of you will have realized, the roadworks in New Road are not fully completed. I would like to thank parents and staff for their patience and cooperation over the past week while the road closure has been in place. Island Roads have worked with us to support and overcome the additional problems we have dealt with as a result of the delayed completion and I would like to thank them for this. Fingers crossed the delivery of the Tarmac will arrive and New Road will be fully open soon.
Next weekend we have the excitement of our annual Round the Island relay race organized by the BSA. There is a lot at stake as Brighstone has won the sponsored run against Nine Acres Primary School for two consecutive years. This year will be slightly different as Team Brighstone are running clockwise starting from Isle of Wight Pearl, can they hold onto the title? Please do sponsor the various runners, this is an important fundraiser and the money raised benefits all of the children in our school.
Our sporting competitions started this week with a mixed Year 5 and 6 away football tournament. There are a number of competitions coming up over the next few weeks and we wish all of our teams the very best. Mr Goldsmith has recruited a Sports Crew to help him lead and take responsibility our sporting activities. I know we have an exciting year ahead of us and we can look forward to some reports of the events that will be written and put together by the children.
Wishing everyone a happy Isle of Wight Day this weekend.
Best wishes
Mrs Fox
