Dear Parents and Carers,
Well done to all of the children and staff for achieving so much during the past half-term. It has been shorter than normal due to Easter being so late on in April, yet it has been extremely busy with a wide range of activity and enhancement to the curriculum.
On Monday the Isle of Wight NHS Trust Ambulance Service were the first UK (United Kingdom) Ambulance Service to commence 2019 Restart A Heart Day celebrations here at Brighstone Primary School. Our Year 5 and Year 6 children had the opportunity to learn some essential life-saving skills and were provided with CPR training. We are really pleased that the children have had the opportunity to be part of such a valuable initiative that might one day help to save lives.
Today we welcomed Nicky Metcalfe from Wight Cycle Training into school. The day started with her leading our assembly. This year we have been awarded with a Bronze Award for our participation in the Shift-It Active Travel Week. Our classes used the app during the week at the end of March to register their travel to school. Well done to 74% of our pupils for being active travellers. Our year 5 pupils then spent the morning with Nicky and had the chance to develop their cycling skills and took part in their Level 1 Bikeabillity course.
We have now finalised many of the dates for events and activities taking place next half-term. Some of them are included in today’s Buzz, we will ensure that during the first week back a complete diary for the remainder of the school year is sent out. In addition, we will post regular updates on our school Facebook page.
I hope you all have an enjoyable and restful half-term break.
Best Wishes, Mrs Fox
