Dear Parents and Carers,
Magical, midsummer days would be a good description of this week at Brighstone.
Yesterday our reception class children spent the day at the beach. Their learning in the outdoor environment included the creation of ephemeral art. Although this included building sandcastles, the children also explored sculptures and patterns using shells and pebbles. I am looking forward to seeing the photographs and talking to the children about their trip.
Helping the children to think about staying safe in all situations is an important part of our learning and on Tuesday the focus was road safety. David Randini visited school and shared his Road Safety magic show in two separate performances (one for each key stage). This was fund-ed by Isle Drive Safe – Remember Evey; a charity founded in the memory of Evey Staley, we would like to thank them for their kind donation that enabled this activity to happen.
As part of our school improvement planning, we work closely with Hampshire and this week we were pleased to welcome Matthew Rixson our LLP (Leadership and Learning Partner) into school. He is a regular visitor to school and is well known to the staff and the children, who enjoy talking about and sharing their learning with him.
Our country dancers will have another opportunity to show their talent at the Shorwell Midsummer Fair on Saturday. Do go along to North-court – gates open at 1.30pm and support the children as they entertain the crowds at Shorwell.
Whatever you are doing this weekend, whether it be Shorwell Midsummer Fair or the Isle of Wight Festival, I hope you have an enjoyable and restful time.
Best Wishes
Mrs Fox
