Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back, I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable half-term break.
What an incredible start we have had to this part of the Summer Term! Our year 6 children had a fantastic time in London on their residential. This gave them the opportunity to experience, science, history, music, dance and theatre in a wider context. They also had a valuable insight into democracy and government through their visit to the Houses of Parliament. Thank you to our MP Bob Seely for taking the time to talk to the children, this really added to their experience. Without the financial support of the BSA and the effort, hard work and organistion by Mr Wilson, the trip could not have happened – we are sincerely grateful to everyone that enabled this to happen.
On Wednesday the children in Year 3 and Year 4 went to Havenstreet to take part in the Country Dancing Festival. This is always an enjoyable occasion, the whole festival was an amazing event, with over 600 children taking part. A huge well done to all of the children, their behaviour was exemplary, their dancing was enthusiastic and a pleasure to watch. Thank you to all of the parents that helped with the transport, your support for the children is so valuable.
We are really pleased that we can offer the children at Brighstone a range of opportunities and this was recognized in our recent OFSTED monitoring Inspection that our ‘pupils enjoy a wide and stimulating curriculum’.
As many of you may be aware there is a supplementary consultation process taking place about school place planning in the West Wight. It is important that the voice of as many teachers, parents and local community members is heard for all of the schools in West Wight and that Brighstone is represented by as many of us as possible. More information can be found on the following links:

During the coming week we have our monthly school service in church. This Wednesday (12th June) we have a service in Church at 8.40am, this will be led by Rev. Clive Todd. All parents, family and friends are welcome to join us, it would be lovely to see as many of you as possible there.
I look forward to seeing you at the various events and activities that we have coming up across the remainder of our term.
Best wishes
Mrs Fox
